Q. Is this a mass start or are racers timed individually?
A. The first racers will hit the water at 10:00 AM, but we will be having a time trial format with staggered start times.
Q. What are the start times for the two races?
A. Sat. April 30- The DAM DERBY: On site registration: 8am, Racer Meeting 9:15am, Race starts: 10am.
Sun. May 1st- DODGE & BURN: On site registration 8am, racers meeting 9:15am, Race starts 10am.
Q. Do I need to be a Class 5 Boater to enter this race?
A. NO! Both the Dam Derby and the Dodge and Burn Relay will be held on class 3 sections of river. Having solid understanding of the river environment and class 3 boat handling skills should be sufficient. We will have safety setup at critical sections and will provide a pre-race summary of hazards to be aware of. As always, look out for your fellow paddlers if they appear to be in distress, it is you duty to stop your race and assist!
Q. Can I enter the Dodge and Burn Relay as a solo competitor?
A. Yes, you are welcome to enter the solo race. But everything is always more fun with a partner/team right?
Q. I bring my dog everywhere with me. Can “Stikine & Jackson” chill in my truck while I race?
A. Sorry, the fur childrenĀ need to stay home this weekend. Dogs are not allowed in Oxbow park (even in vehicles). Your pooch will understand.
Q. I heard there was a Stand Up Paddle Race. Is that true?
A. We’re planning to have a SUP exhibition race after the Dodge and Burn Relay. If you have experience paddle stand up boards on the river, grab you gear and come join the fun!
